Gurus words yields the same results of performing Japa dhyana

The Self within the Heart is beyond birth-death, hunger-thirst, likes-dislikes and ups & downs. Listen about the Self. Gather information regarding it. Then contemplate upon it. After listening and contemplation, meditate upon those words. God's words are equivalent to God. Shankaracharya said: 'Understanding and digesting Guru's words yield the same result as the result yielded by Japa, dhyana and vichara. Food consumed unless digested doesn't give you strength. Similarly, the Guru's words heard must touch your Heart. They should be thoroughly digested and become your integral part. Then they will yield the same result as the result yielded by Japa, dhyana and vichara.
